Chris Perez Personal Biography

It’s a fun time to be working in marketing and public relations. 

The marketing landscape has changed dramatically in the past decade.  We’ve seen the shift to social media tools, the birth of the 24/7 news cycle, and the continuing evolution of traditional media.  The digital evolution has opened up a new untamed frontier in sales, marketing and communications.

As both a counselor and educator, I enjoy staying on top of these developments in order to keep my clients relevant.  Today more than ever, organizations need a fresh, contemporary approach to their marketing or public relations challenges.

As your advocate, I develop strategic programs that address business goals, sales objectives, brand development, internal communications and reputation management. 
I bring considerable expertise in branding, specialized audience outreach, crisis counsel and strategic writing.  I strive to produce programs have a demonstrable impact.

My entire career has focused on representing organizations in a diverse range of industries.  I feel as comfortable working with a regional non-profit as a multinational corporation.  Prior to launching Chris Perez Consulting, I was an executive vice president and managing director for the California offices of Euro RSCG Magnet, a top-20 international marketing and public relations firm.  In this role, I oversaw day-to-day operations for three offices and more than $6 million in revenue.  I launched a successful Latino Practice with a blue-chip roster of clients including Johnson & Johnson, the CDC, the FDA and Tecate Cerveza, with Hispanic professionals working on both coasts. 

Prior to Magnet, I was president of CSP Communications Inc., a Corona, California-based public relations agency that I founded, which represented national brands such as Toyota, Coors, Technicolor and Sprint PCS.  In January 2000, CSP was acquired by Euro RSCG parent company, HAVAS, to expand the network’s Southern California operations.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, I held management positions in the Los Angeles offices of both Fleishman Hillard, Inc. and Golin/Harris, two of the nation’s largest and most prestigious public relations firms.  I have counseled more than 60 different companies and organizations, helping brands such as Budweiser, the Los Angeles Zoo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Knott’s Berry Farm, Lactaid, Splenda and the Better Business Bureau, among many others.

In recent years, I’ve moved my training and coaching to the collegiate level, and I now serve as an Adjunct Professor in communication studies for both Chapman University in Orange and California Baptist University in Riverside.  My role has also broadened into general management consulting, and I have helped launch new business ventures, including an ambitious real estate investment group in Southern California.  You can read a little more about my related interests here.

Sharing my expertise for the growth of the communications profession has always been a priority.  I am a frequent guest lecturer at many Southern California universities and professional associations, and am a past president and board member of the Inland Empire chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.  I also hold several Board and Committee positions for the American Cancer Society, which I support and encourage others to join in the fight against cancer.  

I am a proud Trojan, having graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Journalism/Public Relations and a minor in Film Criticism from the University of Southern California.
